Yahoo answers not accepting all my answers…
Question: I joined Yahoo Answers two weeks ago. I’m a “Top Contributor” in the category of U.S. Taxes. I answered 400 questions and received 200 “Best Answer” votes. I have 20+ years experience preparing tax returns. I made no money with Yahoo Answers. Yahoo watches very closely. I put my email below my answer a few times and Yahoo deleted my answer (and I’m an expert).
I created a blog:http://www.etaxanswers.blogspot.com and I’m looking for ways to produce income. I came to your site and it gave me a lot of good ideas. They say Yahoo Answers is a good place to be. I’m not experienced in what advertising to place in the blog but I know I can make money if I keep answering questions in Yahoo Answers. Right now I post in the source area: Tax Preparer – 20+ years experience. I’m going to replace that with the blog address. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Answer: Thank you for the question, Marina!
That’s an amazing track record! 200/400 is a great score! :)
Yahoo Answers heavily moderates their content and many times too much. I used Yahoo Answers for a little while, writting essays as answers and added my domain as a source saying at the end of the answer that if they have any more questions, they can contact me through my site’s contact form.
While I was getting a great Best Answer ratio too, both my accounts were banned… Yahoo seems to hate self promotion; maybe it hates to give its users another action step that is outside Yahoo Answers.
Since they just remove some answers (you’ve already become a Top Contributor, that should be the reason) you can continue answering some questions giving your new site as a resource. This will help you gather some visitors to your site and at the same time start having comment replies and people giving you feedback.
The idea of creating a website that many people would search for is a great idea and I would suggest to get your own domain now that you are at the beginning. It’s the best thing to do and you can slowly but steadily become an authority in the field.
The best thing to do is to create an email list through Aweber, create a very thorough guide that many people will want (like how to maximize your returns from taxes) and give it for free to the people that will subscribe to your newsletter. Insert the list capturing form on the widget of your website enticing visitors to add their information and download it.
Then, when you have enough mails collected, you should start either the creation of a premium product that you will sell (has to be much more advanced or complementary to the first one) by advertising it on your list, offer your services for a fee to your subscribers and/or promote other people’s valuable products in the same niche, getting a cut every time you make a sale (this is called affiliate marketing).
Internet Marketing Requires two things:
- Passion and knowledge for your niche (and you clearly have this)
- Patience and persistence!
How big should my AdWords campaign be?
The One-Sentence-Answer would be: It depends!
Before you kill me for the crappy answer let me explain. :P
It all depends on what you want to do and most importantly, how much are you willing to spend on AdWords no matter what the conversion rates are. If you plan is to test the waters and just send some traffic per day on your page, having a budget around $5/day, you won’t need to create a big campaign with many Ad-Groups.
If on the other hand, your strategy is to take advantage of the amazing opportunities AdWords traffic can give you, then you should really make a huge campaign.
And by saying huge, I’m not only talking about keywords, I’m talking about AdGroups too! You should create an Ad-Group for each category of your Site or E-store.
Let’s take the case of you having an e-store that sells electronics.
You should create a different AdGroup for Digital Cameras and a different one for Laptops. Ideally you should even create a different AdGroup for Canon and Nikon Cameras! Why? Every AdGroup should have a different landing page that takes the visitor directly to their search. This way Google looks good and is able to give you a better rank on your keywords, therefore lowering the average cost per click.

Can my Tumblr page keywords rank well on search engines?
It sure can! Having a tumblr is like having a normal blog.
Whether you have a tumblr page on a subdomain like xyz.tumblr.com or create a tumblr blog and then redirect it to xyz.com (for free), you are able to rank well for the keywords you want. It all depends how much time you will devote to your tumblr blog and how many links your blog will have.
Pay attention to the content you share though, tumblr is built on sharing photos and small snippets and doing that will not help you in your ranking efforts. Google wants to see rich content pages with a lot of information.
So treat your tumblr blog like any other normal blog you might create and start publishing unique and helpful content for your readers! :)
Angel.
Q:Hi. Thanks for following. Funny that you're into marketing. I'm heavily immersed in figuring out how to make my website more marketable; dying to change its layout and functionality. If you have any suggestions, let me know. Thanks, Suzanne
Hello Suzanne, thank you for your question!
Your Tumblog looks amazing and really shows that you are devoting a lot of time on it. It doesn’t have any ads and that’s how a pure business blog should be, you don’t want people to click away and go somewhere else, you want them to stay and read what you have to say.
When it comes to monetization though, you really have to make a website make some money because it’s all fun and games and yes, every like and reblog is like a victory but you have to have something to help you along the way with your efforts.
Yes, you don’t want to make your site a banner fest so what I would suggest is to create a mailing list. This will help you engage with your loyal visitors and be able to market to them any products you have or new ideas that you want to spread to the world. It’s still the number one way to market your products and at the same time, keep your website serious. I would strongly suggest Aweber as the number one solution for an email list and if you have any problems with it, don’t hesitate to ask me anything!

Q:Hi Bud - nice site... I would be interested to know what impact you think Tumblr is having on wordpress. I personally love it with the reblogging, etc... but is it having much Business Market penetration yet? - commonsenseanalysis
The thing is that with tumblr the only thing you have to pay attention to is to put unique content up, just like a normal blog.
Tumblr got that many people on their platform because they have a simple way for people to maintain a blog like site without even any minimum effort.
You don’t have to worry about hosting, templates, if your server is going to crash or anything else and that’s what made tumblr that popular. That and the amazing idea of reblogging.
When it comes to business use, if you’re into fashion, music or any lifestyle business, you shouldn’t be anywhere else (maybe Pinterest too but that’s not a blogging platform). For anything else you have choices. You can create-promote a blog with tumblr just by getting a domain name and giving it a go or install a WordPress and start a normal one. Right now I am using it as an experiment. Since you’ve already contacted me with a question together with other 3 people, it’s going really well and all I can think of is how to take this tumblr to the next level. But sometimes keeping things simple is what makes them beautiful and that’s why I got hooked with tumblr. As for people using it, yes it has a HUGE market penetration!
If you’re thinking of using it or not, just do it, it’s worth it ;)
Does Google index .co domains?
Ofc it does! Google crawls EVERYTHING and then adds it to it’s index. If the website in question is not doing anything ”shady” then the site will stay indexed for the years to come. .CO domains are like all the other domains, the more links and worthy content you have, the better the site will rank :)
Why is YouTube changing layouts all the time?
YouTube is trying to become the new television and to achieve that people at YouTube have to experiment a LOT.
They are trying to:
1) Make a habit for people to visit YouTube every day and increase interactions with the site by letting people see what the channels they are subscribed, like too rather than see what they upload only.
2) Improve their statistics. Since views are power for the broadcasters, YouTube is trying to show the best possible stats for their videos. They have a long road ahead of them but are on a good track.
3) The reason they redesign channels all the time is that they are trying to brand channels as television channels. They’re trying to make people subscribe to them because if they find enough channels that they love and subscribe, they will be able to keep them on the site every day showing them content they love all the time.
With the above, they will be able to one day let us click a button on our television and stream everything that we haven’t seen from all our channels we are subscribed. And that’ll be the best television ever, one that plays the exact content you want, the second you want it to play!
What is a good average cost per click
When you’re paying for traffic there are many factors that affect your average CPC (cost per click).
Some of them are:
- The marketplace that you’re using (AdWords, Facebook or any other provider)
- The Clickthrough Rate of your ads
- The Keyword relevancy with the landing page you use
- The competition
If you want to learn how to lower your AdWords average CPC rate (and those methods can be applied to more networks), read my post on Moneytized.

What do I do as an affiliate?
As an affiliate you are promoting products of other people and when you make a sale you get a percentage of that sale as a commission.
It’s an amazing way to increase the money earned from your websites if the products you already sugest have an affiliate program. Utilize it and you’ll make some more money, not bad!

What’s the best social sharing plugin for WordPress?
It really depends on what you want to do to be honest.
If you want a simple solution that will play out of the box without the need for any strange customization, you can check out Sharedaddy sharing plugin. You’ll fall in love with how simply it is to use!
If on the other hand, you need something more complicated and customizable, I would strongly suggest to go with Sharebar sharing plugin.
